Job description
The Systems Engineer role within Amazon's Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) team focuses on deploying advanced industrial automation and robotics technologies across North America. This position involves overseeing large-scale project planning, installation, and launch of robotic systems in fulfillment centers. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and experience with complex electro-mechanical systems. This role requires extensive travel, as the engineer will manage projects on-site and collaborate with various stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical degree or related experience
- 1+ year’s experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models
- 1+ year’s experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems
- Understanding of data collection and reporting processes
- Ability to troubleshoot robotics systems
- Proficiency in standard office software tools and processes
- 1-3 years of experience working in a field engineering, construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environment
- Knowledge of specific robotic equipment and Allen Bradley PLC experience
- Certified in OSHA, ANSI, or other Automation Safety Certifications
Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation of robotics, packaging, and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers
- Develop detailed knowledge of robotic systems and guide their installation and troubleshooting
- Manage technical ambiguity around integration of work cells in fulfillment centers
- Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, and internal customers
- Travel to project sites and ensure alignment on program status with stakeholders
- Manage day-to-day project scheduling and budget management
- Work on continuous improvement activities to enhance project outcomes
- Lead teams of engineers on various projects
