The Hardware Validation Engineer role focuses on qualifying networking hardware for Google's data centers, ensuring that equipment operates properly and meets quality standards. The engineer will work within lab environments, collaborating with design engineers to improve hardware designs. This position is part of the Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team, which is responsible for building the hardware and software technologies that power Google's services. The role involves a combination of testing, analysis, and communication with cross-functional teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience working on boards and systems, doing electrical, functional and system-level testing, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• Master's degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
• Experience using scripting and automation to execute test algorithms and analyze results.
• Experience with lab equipment like scopes, bit error rate testers (BERTs), and analyzers.
• Knowledge of signal integrity, especially for high speed interfaces.

• Create test plans and coordinate resources across test environments.
• Perform electrical, functional, and signal integrity testing for Google's networking equipment and other data center hardware solutions.
• Analyze results to ensure that they meet Google's requirements.
• Use scopes, protocol analyzers, bit error rate testers (BERTs), and other lab equipment to collect data.
• Organize data and incorporate learnings to maintain and improve the qualification process.
• Validate interfaces like Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) Gen 5/6, Ethernet, and inter-chip interconnects.
• Communicate status updates to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Report bugs and deliver corrective action where needed with external suppliers and internal development teams.
