Job description

The Architectural Design Engineering Lead for Google Data Centers will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between design and construction. This position involves leading multi-disciplinary teams to develop next-generation infrastructure solutions while ensuring compliance with building codes and standards. The role requires a visionary approach to optimize data center designs for performance, safety, and efficiency. The candidate will also be responsible for integrating real-world data into future designs to maintain sustainable and state-of-the-art facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, civil, or structural engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certification in the national council of architectural registration boards (NCARB).
  • 10 years of experience working on industrial or data center projects within an architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) environment.
  • Experience using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud for design coordination, life safety review, and architectural documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Direct multi-disciplinary teams across structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, controls, security, and telecommunications for product development and top-level assembly integration of architectural scopes.
  • Lead internal workstreams to define and standardize technical requirements for next-generation data center designs and ancillary building structures.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure global building code compliance, optimized space planning, headcount modeling, and efficient people and material circulation.
  • Review construction-level drawings and specifications, serving as the primary escalation point for localized engineering adjustments to canonical designs.
  • Orchestrate feedback loops between construction and operations teams to integrate field data and lessons learned into future design iterations and program standards.

Benefits

  • Employees at Google are often offered benefits like comprehensive health insurance, 401(k) matching, and flexible work arrangements, among other benefits.
