Job description
As a Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) and Hardware Engineer at Amazon Leo, you will be responsible for testing and qualifying next generation spacecraft PCBAs while conducting failure mode analysis on complex phased array systems. You will work closely with production, development, electrical, RF, supply chain, and quality teams to provide manufacturability input and support the build ramp. This role requires innovative problem-solving skills and the ability to implement new processes and equipment. Your contributions will be vital in driving continuous improvement initiatives and enhancing the reliability of satellite broadband technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Experience using Linux and proficiency with associated tools or languages
- Experience with log analysis and the ability to parse and interpret system logs
- Experience testing hardware sub-components and knowledge of PCB layout best practices
- Experience with high speed interfaces
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent is preferred
- Experience scripting for automation using languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby
Responsibilities
- Conduct failure mode analysis and root cause analysis on phased array PCBAs and systems.
- Specify, procure, and establish FMA test stations optimized for phased array PCBA troubleshooting.
- Communicate non-conformances to quality engineering teams and PCBA suppliers.
- Write comprehensive technical specifications for troubleshooting procedures tailored to Amazon Leo's requirements.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring engineers and technicians on troubleshooting techniques.
- Lead defect triage sessions and track failure trends across production shifts.
- Provide vital manufacturability input to design and antenna engineering teams.
- Stand up new processes, equipment, and assembly lines to support Amazon Leo's build ramp.
