Job description

The Engineering Lab Manager for Platforms Infrastructure Engineering at Google is responsible for leading a specialized hardware engineering team that supports New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. This role involves collaborating with Project Managers to prioritize workloads and ensure high performance in dynamic environments. The team focuses on delivering laboratory infrastructure and expert engineering to enhance hardware testing, automation, and product quality. The position plays a crucial role in maximizing resources and accelerating time to market for Google's hardware solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience working in a lab environment.
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
  • Certification in RHCE or CCNA is preferred.
  • 7 years of experience working in an Engineering laboratory environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a specialized hardware engineering team supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
  • Perform Linux and Windows Operating System (OS) administration, including root-cause analysis for complex network issues.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to execute hardware assembly, firmware updates, and tool programming during critical project phases.
  • Manage the end-to-end hardware supply chain, including component allocation and inventory of high-volume consumables.
  • Increase operational efficiency by developing standardized procedures and automation tools for routine lab tasks.
