The role involves addressing unique modeling challenges and ensuring that ads provide real value to users proactively. The engineer will also work closely with various modeling teams to enhance ad relevance and quality.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including Java, C/C++, or Python.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience building and deploying recommendation systems models in production.
• 5 years of experience with ML design and ML infrastructure.

• Be the primary technical authority for the retrieval stack and drive improvements in ad relevance and quality.
• Define the roadmap for retrieval quality and build partnerships with relevant modeling teams.
• Innovate on measuring and improving ad relevance aligned with user satisfaction and advertiser ROI.
• Design next-generation applicant generation strategies.
• Oversee the integration of fresh signals into retrieval models to capture the dynamic nature of the Discover Feed.
