Job description
The Optical Validation Engineer role at Google Cloud focuses on supporting the development and testing of optical transceivers and related technologies. The Optical Validation Team is responsible for ensuring the quality and performance of optical products that power Google Cloud Platforms. This position involves collaboration with hardware and software teams to configure lab networks and test infrastructures. The engineer will also maintain lab operations and contribute to the rapid development of Google’s data center technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1 year of experience in optical transceivers and testing.
- Experience with lab test and measurement instrumentation and fiber optics components handling.
- Experience working with compute and networking systems.
Responsibilities
- Support test development for new and existing optical product designs.
- Create and execute comprehensive validation plans to ensure quality adherence.
- Develop and automate optical test instrumentation using Python and vendor APIs.
- Operate wafer probe stations and conduct high-frequency measurements.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and root cause field failures of optical transceiver modules.
- Maintain lab infrastructure and manage equipment to ensure a functional R&D environment.
