Job description

The Firmware Development Engineer will play a crucial role in developing a foundational automation system that enhances warehouse operations through robotics. This position involves optimizing, deploying, and enhancing a fleet of robotics systems, focusing on robotic path planning, motion control, and system integration. The ideal candidate will be passionate about software development and have a strong background in designing and implementing new products. They will work within the applied automation and controls team to build advanced control systems for manipulation robots.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and testing
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly reliable embedded control systems
  • Develop and optimize real-time control algorithms and validate designs through testing
  • Drive system architecture choices that impact Amazon's warehouse robotics systems
  • Create and improve monitoring and observability tools for global deployments
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to the team
  • Integrate, test, and validate new features on live systems to meet performance standards
  • Collaborate with experts across disciplines to create integrated systems and solutions
  • Travel 15-20% to support onsite system testing
