Job description

The Senior Systems Engineer role at Amazon Prime Air involves defining, designing, verifying, and launching safety-critical autonomous ground system features. The team is composed of experienced aerospace professionals focused on innovative ground systems that meet regulatory and safety standards. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and successful integration of automated traffic management solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Master's degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an environment with ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-278A, DO-254, or related.
  • Experience as a technical lead, systems engineer, or technical program manager with significant experience in complex systems.
  • Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systems.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Geospatial engineering, Weather Science, Distributed Systems, Flight Decks, or Traffic Management.
  • Experience in cloud-based software development, system design, and/or distributed system architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the systems engineering lead and subject matter expert for subsystem(s) within the Airspace Mission Orchestration System.
  • Lead interdisciplinary trade studies across Prime Air software, system, product, and regulatory functions.
  • Generate key systems engineering artifacts including CONOPs, design documents, interface control documents, requirements, test cases, test procedures, test execution, and verification reports.
  • Own the entire system life cycle, taking features from concept to production in a safe, performant, and certifiable manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define site-specific requirements for expanding the automated traffic management system.
  • Validate the system's adherence to internal and external regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Write a verification plan to ensure critical system requirements are adequately tested.
