Job description

The SDE II position on the DynamoDB Capacity and Customer Entitlement team focuses on designing and building production systems that optimize capacity planning and fleet scaling for DynamoDB's infrastructure. This role involves solving complex distributed systems problems and developing automated scaling algorithms that directly impact millions of customers. The team values innovation and operational excellence, working collaboratively to ensure reliable service while optimizing infrastructure investments. Engineers will gain deep technical understanding of large-scale architecture and contribute to a culture of mentorship and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 1+ years of experience as a software development engineer or in a related role
  • 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, or distributed software applications
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain production-grade capacity management systems for DynamoDB.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle for capacity automation projects.
  • Build automated workflows that process customer capacity requests.
  • Develop integration points across DynamoDB's architecture.
  • Create monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for capacity health.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and resolve operational issues.
  • Partner with service teams and product managers to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
  • Influence technical direction through architecture discussions and strategic planning.
