Job description
Ring is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Device Guardians team, focusing on building backend services for device management. This role involves working with AWS technologies to address complex distributed systems challenges and improve customer interactions with Ring devices. The team emphasizes long-term architectural thinking and maintaining high security standards while ensuring service availability. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software development and experience with large-scale cloud systems.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling
- 1+ years of experience as a software development engineer or in a related occupation
- 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Responsibilities
- Shape the definition, vision, design, roadmap, and development of core services at Ring
- Design, architect, implement, and operate large-scale cloud systems
- Deliver the technical direction of services and the feature roadmap autonomously
- Leverage modern AI-powered development tools to accelerate development and improve code quality
- Promote robust and maintainable code with clear documentation
- Communicate proactively and provide technical leadership within the team
- Explore and adopt emerging AI tools and technologies to enhance engineering workflows
