Job description

The Data Engineer role at AWS focuses on building complex data engineering and business intelligence applications using the AWS big data stack. This position requires expertise in handling large data sets and developing data processes to support the fast-growing business needs of the organization. The engineer will work closely with business owners to define key business questions and provide actionable insights. Additionally, the role involves mentoring other engineers and promoting best practices within the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using ETL/ELT processes
  • 3+ years of experience developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using OLAP technologies
  • 3+ years of experience developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using data modeling
  • 3+ years of experience developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using SQL
  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
  • Experience with non-relational databases or data stores

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support data warehouse and data lake infrastructure using AWS big data stack and Python.
  • Develop and manage ETLs to source data from various commercial, sales, and operational systems.
  • Create a unified data model for analytics and reporting.
  • Use business intelligence and visualization software to develop dashboards for senior leadership.
  • Empower internal customers to drive their own analytics and reporting.
  • Develop a deep understanding of vast data sources to solve business problems.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Finance, Service Engineering Teams, and Sales Teams to support analytics requirements.
  • Manage numerous requests concurrently and prioritize when necessary.
  • Mentor other engineers and positively influence team culture.
