Job description
The Security Engineer role focuses on securing foundational compute and networking systems that power AWS, including EC2 and VPC. The team collaborates with various service teams to identify and mitigate security risks proactively. This position emphasizes designing security controls and providing architectural guidance for large-scale systems. Additionally, the role involves leveraging AI tools to enhance security assessments and drive innovation in security practices.
Requirements
- 2+ years of web protocols, common security attacks, and remediation experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, including penetration testing
- Experience solving basic problems by writing code or scripts with some assistance
- Experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings
- Experience using AI/ML tools and techniques to solve security problems
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated security guardrails and paved paths for secure practices
- Engage early with development teams to embed security into applications from the start
- Build automated, continuous security assessment capabilities to replace manual reviews
- Contribute code for security fixes and paved path solutions alongside developers
- Partner with developers to create scalable, self-service security tools for risk identification
- Design and implement preventive and detective security controls for continuous assurance
- Collaborate with security stakeholders to define and drive long-term security strategy
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate security assessments and automate threat detection
