Job description

As a Network Engineer intern at Amazon, you will be part of a team responsible for deploying and automating network infrastructure across various services including Amazon Retail and AWS. This full-time internship requires a commitment of 40 hours per week for a maximum of 12 weeks. You will work closely with automation teams to define tools that enhance scalability and efficiency. The role offers a unique opportunity to engage with complex network systems and contribute to innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Telecommunications, or a similar field.
  • Graduation conferral date must be between October 2026 and December 2029.
  • Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Javascript.
  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other routing and switching technologies.
  • Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
  • Create and update network standards to ensure compliance during deployment.
  • Collaborate with internal customers on designs and solutions, bringing them from concept to production.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
