Job description

As an Electrical Engineer, you will design industrial control panels and develop electrical systems for automation equipment. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a lab environment to bring automation concepts from prototype to production. The role involves hands-on work with electrical components and systems, ensuring they integrate seamlessly with mechanical and software elements. Your contributions will directly impact operational efficiency and customer experience in fulfillment centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience designing industrial control panels or electrical systems for automated equipment
  • Experience with ECAD tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical
  • Recent execution of a panel design in EPLAN within the last 5 years
  • Experience designing wiring harnesses and specifying industrial connectors
  • Experience working with PLCs, industrial sensors, and motor drives
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators
  • Familiarity with NEC and UL 508A standards for industrial control panels and NFPA79 standard for industrial machinery
  • Experience supporting equipment commissioning and troubleshooting in production or warehouse environments
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, IO-Link, or Profinet
  • Experience with safety system design including safety PLCs and risk assessment per ISO 13849 or IEC 62443
  • Experience building prototype wiring harnesses and control panels
  • Experience with IPCs and embedded computing platforms in industrial environments
  • Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, and motion control applications
  • Experience with signal conditioning and signal interfaces
  • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC and radiated/conducted noise mitigation
  • Experience scaling a design to volume manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Design industrial control panels using EPLAN and specify components including PLCs, IPCs, motor drives, sensors, and safety devices.
  • Research, evaluate, and select sensors, actuators, motors, and other electrical components for automation systems.
  • Perform system-level electrical design and integration to ensure subsystems work cohesively.
  • Create wiring harness designs with specifications for connectors, wire routing, and cable management.
  • Build and assemble prototype wiring harnesses and control panels in the lab, iterating based on test results.
  • Interface with industrial automation sensors, PLCs, IPCs, and fieldbus networks to integrate electrical systems.
  • Conduct electrical testing and validation using standard lab equipment.
  • Generate electrical documentation including schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers on space claims and cable routing within machine enclosures.
  • Support field deployment and troubleshooting of electrical systems at fulfillment centers.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
