Job description

The Supplier Quality Engineer role at AWS involves managing infrastructure equipment quality by interfacing with engineering teams, procurement, and vendors. The position focuses on supplier qualifications, quality monitoring, and issue resolution to ensure high standards for AWS data centers. You will work within a diverse team to drive quality improvement initiatives and develop robust quality systems. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying defects and implementing processes to enhance equipment quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years in a quality management function with direct interaction with suppliers
  • 8+ years in Electrical or Mechanical Product manufacturing and supplier quality
  • Master's degree or above in math/statistics/engineering or other equivalent quantitative discipline
  • Six-Sigma or equivalent certification
  • Experience with project management
  • Knowledge of Excel at an advanced level
  • Expert knowledge in manufacturing processes, ISO-9000, quality control plans, and failure analysis or problem-solving methodologies
  • Lean certification
  • Experience with data center operations and infrastructure equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple qualification activities and development schedules
  • Proven experience in working with external design and manufacturing supply chain partners

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Supplier Quality roadmap for complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure equipment.
  • Manage complete equipment lifecycle quality by collaborating with suppliers, engineering, procurement, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Improve equipment quality by performing thorough on-site audits to ensure suppliers' quality systems meet AWS requirements.
  • Drive Supplier Quality Improvement Programs and track supplier performance along with goal settings for key performance indicators.
  • Develop critical to quality parameters and perform inspections and functional testing for complex equipment.
  • Review historical failures and equipment design changes to update equipment technical specifications.
  • Lead root cause analysis for complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure equipment.
  • Evaluate and validate complex root cause analysis reports using critical thinking and quality principles.
  • Develop new product and supplier qualification plans in terms of quality.
  • Perform data analysis on failures reported during the equipment lifecycle and create technical reports.
  • Work on concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
