Job description
The Manufacturing Engineer in the Equipment Supply Chain team at Google will play a crucial role in developing custom silicon solutions for Google's products. This position involves driving progress, solving complex problems, and mentoring junior team members. The engineer will work on optimizing manufacturing processes and ensuring product readiness for mass production. The role requires collaboration with various teams to enhance the efficiency and performance of Google's hardware offerings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience working in Manufacturing.
- Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred.
- 5 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in an industrial environment, preferably in data centers or automotive production.
- Experience with data center cooling and lean manufacturing.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time as needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead design for excellence feasibility reviews and generate design for manufacturing feasibility reports during the concept readiness phase.
- Validate mass production readiness through run-at-rate validation reports and line balancing charts.
- Execute vendor capability assessments and factory readiness gap analyses to ensure supply chain maturity.
- Enforce quality by reviewing process capability reports, control plans, and gage repeatability and reproducibility reports during the pilot phase.
- Advocate risk management by leading process failure mode and effects analysis and conducting root cause analysis for manufacturing issues.
- Optimize factory logistics by developing process flow diagrams and material presentation plans.
