The Ground Software Systems Engineer will be a key member of the Ground Systems development team focused on Ground Gateway and TT&C software systems for Amazon Leo's satellite constellation. This role involves defining software products, features, and requirements while collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers. The engineer will ensure that the developed systems meet performance needs and mentor other engineers. The team is responsible for the architecture, design, and installation of systems that enable high-speed communications with satellites.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
• 5+ years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
• Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting
• Experience in writing and managing software system and subsystem requirements
• Experience working with external custom product suppliers
• Experience in developing performance optimized and highly-available real-time monitoring and control software for Linux-based systems
• Experience in developing cloud-based infrastructure services related to database technologies, monitoring services, and/or analytics

• Lead ground terminal software requirements definition and design for project teams
• Serve as a technical expert on ground terminal functionality and software interfaces
• Research and design inter-system/application interface protocols addressing cyber-security standards
• Manage day-to-day software related technical direction for the team
• Lead internal and supplier development teams to understand software requirements
• Effectively communicate project health, risks, and issues to stakeholders
• Ensure delivered gateway systems meet performance needs including availability and security
• Mentor and lead other Software Systems and Software Development Engineers
