Job description

Microsoft AI is seeking a talented Backend engineer to enhance the capabilities of its AI assistant, Copilot. The role involves building and scaling the core backend platform, including Orchestrator, Inference, and APIs. The team collaborates closely with Product Management, Design, Data Scientists, and AI Research teams to deliver impactful AI-powered features. Candidates should thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute positively to the team culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • 4+ years of experience building backend APIs for mobile apps, including GraphQL/Rest APIs/Protobuf/Thrift.
  • 4+ years of experience building scalable services on public cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • 4+ years of experience building distributed systems at scale.
  • Experience working with AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Dedication to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying updated with industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Build secure and performant APIs that power Copilot apps.
  • Collaborate with other product engineers, Product Managers, and platform engineers to transform ambiguous projects into amazing experiences.
  • Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code.
  • Navigate roadblocks to deliver work to users quickly and iteratively.
  • Work in a fast-paced, design-driven product development cycle.
