Job description

The Principal Data & Applied Scientist role within the EngOps Data & Applied Sciences team focuses on developing advanced AI solutions to enhance the Azure customer experience. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive AI projects from conception to implementation, ensuring compliance with Microsoft Responsible AI standards. The role emphasizes rigorous experimentation and evaluation to assess the impact of solutions, while also mentoring team members. Candidates will work in a dynamic environment that values empowerment, inclusion, and a growth mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience, OR Master's Degree AND 4+ years related experience, OR Doctorate AND 3+ years related experience, OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with product and business groups to drive the impact of AI projects throughout their life cycle.
  • Work with large-scale computing frameworks and data analysis systems to build and apply models to real products.
  • Perform rigorous experiments and evaluations to assess the quality and impact of solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build tools and improve the end-to-end AI quality of production systems.
  • Mentor and guide the team, managing project schedules, milestones, KPIs, reviews, and checkpoints.
  • Ensure compliance with Microsoft Responsible AI standards throughout the AI system lifecycle.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning and contribute to the company's intellectual property.
