Job description

As a Fleet Remediation Project Design Mechanical Engineer at Amazon, you will lead design projects in operational data centers to address issues, upgrade infrastructure, and add new services. You will act as the primary engineering resource, providing lifecycle support from design through implementation. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure consistency and reliability in service delivery. You will work on multiple concurrent projects, focusing on enhancing capacity, availability, and sustainability in data centers.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience in carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data center topology.
  • Fluent knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment, and building management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design for existing data center upgrades and solutions that improve infrastructure and sustainability.
  • Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for data centers in your region.
  • Interface with internal and external design engineering teams and other stakeholders to promote standards.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert during new remediation projects.
  • Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover of projects.
  • Prepare and present progress reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage design and as-built drawings and documents.
