The Mechanical Engineer role at AWS involves designing resilient and cost-effective mechanical systems for data centers. This position requires collaboration with various internal and external partners to enhance the reliability and efficiency of data center infrastructure. The role is based in either Seattle, Washington or Herndon, Virginia, and emphasizes teamwork and creative problem-solving.
Requirements
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer License.
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work in a cross-disciplinary setting with the ability to influence and drive others.
- Perform deep-dive and root cause analysis.
- Develop integrated systems extending the life of data center infrastructure products.
- Simplify, optimize, and lower costs of data center mechanical and associated subcomponents.
- Collaborate with internal and external ecosystem partners to design and develop new data center product solutions.
- Support field engineering and data center operation teams for performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management, and partner teams.
- Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating ownership.
- Provide product design support to other team members.
- Write functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
