The role is part of the Visual Intelligence Technology team at Apple, focusing on enhancing user experiences through advanced technologies like Visual Search and large language models (LLMs). The team aims to innovate in visual intelligence and multimodal foundation models to achieve ambitious long-term goals. The position involves exploring how large-scale models can interpret complex visual scenes and developing training pipelines. Collaboration with researchers and data scientists is essential to fine-tune and evaluate domain-specific LLMs for various applications.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Data Science or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning, deep learning, information retrieval, natural language processing or data mining
- Experience being a tech lead and successfully leading a team to ship software to users
- Excellent knowledge and practical skills in designing ML platforms, architectures or algorithms
- Strong interpersonal skills to work independently as well as in a team
- 3+ years of experience in prompt engineering, fine-tuning, evaluating, and developing data collection/annotation/management tooling for LLMs
- Experience with relevant deep learning software packages such as Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
Responsibilities
- Explore how large-scale models can understand and reason about complex visual scenes
- Design and build large-scale training pipelines
- Perform experiments at scale to evaluate model performance
- Collaborate with researchers and data scientists to develop and fine-tune domain-specific LLMs
