Apple's Display Technologies group is seeking Mechanical Engineers to design and develop innovative display modules for future products. Requirements
- Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Experience with mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, and thermodynamics.
- Experience performing mechanical design and validation.
- 3D/2D software experience with tools such as Pro/E, NX, CATIA, or Solidworks.
- Experience with diverse manufacturing techniques and materials.
- Failure analysis experience.
- MS or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or related field is preferred.
- Experience with simulation and analysis such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodology and capable of large data set analysis using JMP, MATLAB, or Minitab.
- Experience with DFA/DFM and statistical tolerance analysis.
- Electro-mechanical design experience for high-volume products with an emphasis on reliability.
- Experience creating and/or applying AI/ML tools for mechanical engineering workflows.
- Excellent prioritization, cross-functional collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills.
- High energy personality with a passion for learning and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience applying Design of Experiments (DOE) and scientific methods to engineering issues.
Responsibilities
- Investigate state-of-the-art mechanical designs and technologies to improve Apple display performance.
- Define the module mechanical architecture based on cross-functional requirements.
- Achieve system goals through mechanical design optimization and prototyping.
- Define and implement validation plans for mechanical engineering characteristics of display modules.
- Act as a focal point among cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve issues.
- Support the product throughout architecture, engineering development, and mass-production ramp-up.
- Audit factories to ensure high yield and quality in manufacturing and assembly.
- Communicate validation results to peers and leadership.
