Job description
The Packaging PD Manager will lead a team of engineers in designing and executing sustainable packaging architecture for Apple products. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure the packaging enhances customer experience while meeting sustainability goals. The manager will oversee the mechanical design from initial prototypes to mass production, ensuring quality and reliability. Candidates should be innovative and eager to learn, bringing fresh perspectives to the packaging design process.
Requirements
- BS degree with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Science or related field
- 5 years of related industry experience
- Experience managing or serving as technical lead of a mechanical design team
- Experience working with 3D and 2D CAD
- Strong analytical skills and engineering fundamentals
- Experienced in failure analysis and root cause investigations of multi-disciplinary problems
- Proven track record of shipping high volume consumer products
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary cross functional efforts
- Ability to travel up to 20% to support your team, suppliers, and engineering build activities
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
- Prototyping experience
- Experience collaborating with manufacturers throughout the design cycle, from concept to mass production
- Knowledge of FEA and material science, fiber based material understanding is a plus
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers to design and execute packaging architecture from initial prototypes to mass production.
- Ensure the packaging design meets sustainability goals while protecting products during shipping.
- Oversee the design, manufacturability, quality, and reliability of packaging for several products.
- Collaborate with Industrial Design, Marketing, Environmental, Operations, and other teams during the design process.
- Promote innovative thinking and continuous learning within the team.
- Manage multidisciplinary cross-functional efforts to achieve project goals.
