Job description
The Optical Engineer will be part of the Camera Hardware Engineering group, focusing on advanced optical technology development for Apple products. This team is dedicated to the research, design, development, testing, and qualification of camera hardware. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure the integration of camera lenses into modules. The ideal candidate will contribute to innovations in imaging technology and support metrology methodologies for camera lens testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Manufacturing, or a similar field.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience with lens design, optical metrology, tolerance analysis, or similar experience.
- Experience in stray light analysis.
- Proficiency with ZEMAX, CODE V, FRED, LightTool, etc.
- Working knowledge of thin film physics and fabrication.
- Working knowledge of optomechanics.
- Working knowledge of CAD software and a good understanding of optical components drawing.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive optical and image quality characterization of the lens and the camera module.
- Support metrology methodology for camera lens testing and develop appropriate test charts and methods for camera evaluation.
- Interface with the assembly and packaging groups to support the integration of camera lenses into modules.
- Contribute to imaging-related innovations.
