Job description

Apple is seeking a dedicated Physical Design Engineer to join their innovative team. This role focuses on the physical design of high-performance PHY designs, collaborating closely with architecture, CAD, timing, and logic design teams. The engineer will play a crucial role in delivering outstanding PHY designs that enhance the user experience for millions of customers. Candidates should be prepared to engage in all phases of physical design from RTL to GDSII delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Deep design experience in high PHY and/or SOC designs
  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices in Physical Design
  • Experience in developing and implementing Power-grid and Clock specifications
  • Strong understanding of Physical construction, Integration, and Physical Verification
  • Knowledge of Basic SoC Architecture and HDL languages like Verilog
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl/Tcl
  • Understanding of Extraction and STA methodology and tools
  • Familiarity with Physical Design Verification methodology to debug LVS/DRC issues

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all phases of physical design of high-performance PHY design
  • Collaborate with architecture, CAD, timing, and logic design teams
  • Perform physical designs of outstanding PHY design
  • Deliver final GDSII for PHY designs
  • Engage in timing fixes with the logic design team
