Job description

As an ASIC STA Engineer at Apple, you will be responsible for ensuring timing sign-off and developing sign-off flow for SoC design. You will work closely with RTL designers, CAD, and the Physical design team to achieve high-quality timing constraints. The role requires innovation in timing constraints and flow to facilitate timing closure and address potential issues in timing analysis. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential as you will interact with diverse groups within the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven knowledge of the ASIC design timing closure flow and methodology.
  • 2+ years of experience in writing ASIC timing constraints and timing closure.
  • Expertise in STA tools such as Primetime and knowledge of timing corners/modes.
  • Hands-on experience in timing/SDC constraints generation and management.
  • Proficient in scripting languages like Tcl and Perl.
  • Familiarity with synthesis, DFT, and backend related methodology and tools.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform timing sign-off and develop STA and sign-off flow.
  • Own IP and block level timing constraints for both regular and custom timing requirements.
  • Collaborate with RTL designers to understand design intent and clock structure.
  • Work with the CAD team to develop and understand flow.
  • Engage with the Physical design team to close and sign-off timing.
  • Innovate timing constraints and flow to facilitate timing closure.
  • Verify timing constraints and address any potential pessimism in timing analysis.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
