The Darwin Scheduler team at Apple is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to design the next generation of the kernel scheduler. This team is responsible for delivering a high-quality kernel that powers all Apple products, focusing on key areas such as CPU scheduling and power management. The role involves influencing the entire stack from silicon design to application behavior. Requirements
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in C and C++.
- Proven track record of debugging complex system issues such as deadlocks and race conditions.
- 5+ years of experience in Operating Systems development with deep knowledge of kernel internals.
- Strong understanding of SMP/AMP architectures and synchronization primitives.
Responsibilities
- Drive the evolution of the XNU kernel to support Apple Silicon capabilities.
- Identify bottlenecks in highly parallel workflows.
- Optimize the interaction between hardware and software.
- Ensure the operating system scales from low-power embedded devices to high-performance workstations.
