Job description
The Software Engineer - Tools & Automation role in the Networking Operations team focuses on enhancing software development workflows related to bug triage, continuous integration, and presubmission testing. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across various organizations within Apple, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position requires a passion for automation and improving user experience in mobile environments. The role involves troubleshooting networking features and implementing tools to support engineering workflows.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent networking software development experience
- Experience with automated build, continuous integration, and test automation systems
- Experience with source code management using git
- Experience designing and implementing software automation solutions with languages like Swift and Python
- Experience with large language models such as Apple Foundation Models, Claude, or Gemini
- Experience with macOS and iOS development tools including Xcode and Instruments
- Experience with search and analytics engines like Splunk or Elastic Search
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to stay focused and prioritize a heavy workload while achieving extraordinary quality
- Lab management experience and configuration of network equipment in a lab environment is a plus
- Experience with wireless and cellular technologies is a plus
Responsibilities
- Implement scripts and tools to support the engineering development workflow
- Create reports and dashboards to improve submission and triage operations
- Troubleshoot networking related features across a variety of Apple platforms
