Job description
The SoC Firmware Engineer will be a key member of Apple's Wireless SoC firmware team, focusing on hardware and system bring-up, drivers, and network stack support. This role is critical for ensuring the quality of firmware for manufacturability and involves close collaboration with the Software Engineering team. The position emphasizes energy-efficient design and the development of new technologies that enhance user experience. The engineer will work within a vertically integrated engineering team responsible for various aspects of wireless silicon development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong background in embedded software development using C and assembly languages.
- Familiarity with ARM CPUs and RTOS.
- Experience in performing low-level drivers and HW bring-up and validation on FPGA and SoC Silicon hardware platforms.
- Proficiency in writing scripts in languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
- Experience implementing diagnostics, manufacturing tests, and protocol compliance test software.
- Knowledge of industry standards for wireless communications such as Bluetooth, WLAN, or UWB at MAC/PHY level.
Responsibilities
- Craft and implement embedded software for System on a Chip (SoC) bring-up and testing.
- Ensure the quality of firmware for manufacturability in collaboration with the Software Engineering team.
- Perform low-level driver development and hardware bring-up on FPGA and SoC platforms.
- Write and maintain scripts for testing and validation purposes.
- Implement diagnostics and manufacturing tests for wireless products.
- Optimize power consumption in firmware and debug related issues.
