Job description
The SoC Firmware Engineer will join Apple's wireless silicon development team, focusing on embedded software for System on a Chip (SoC) bring-up and testing. This role emphasizes hardware and system integration, driver development, and support for various teams within the Wireless SoC group. The engineer will work closely with the Software Engineering team to ensure firmware quality for manufacturability. This position is critical for delivering functional wireless products to a large customer base efficiently.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 10+ years of industry experience.
- Strong background in embedded software development using C and assembly languages.
- Familiarity with ARM CPUs and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Experience with low-level drivers and hardware bring-up on FPGA and SoC platforms.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
- Knowledge of power optimization techniques and debugging in firmware.
- Familiarity with industry standards for wireless communications such as Bluetooth, WLAN, or UWB.
Responsibilities
- Craft and implement embedded software for SoC bring-up and testing.
- Collaborate with the Software Engineering team to ensure firmware quality.
- Perform hardware bring-up and validation on FPGA and SoC hardware platforms.
- Develop low-level drivers and support the integration of various system components.
- Implement diagnostics and manufacturing tests for firmware.
- Conduct protocol compliance testing and related software development.
