Job description
The SoC Firmware Engineer will be a key member of Apple's Wireless SoC firmware team, focusing on hardware and system bring-up, drivers, and network stack support. This role is critical in ensuring the quality of firmware for manufacturability and involves close collaboration with the Software Engineering team. The position emphasizes the development of embedded software for System on a Chip (SoC) testing and validation. The engineer will contribute to the design and implementation of energy-efficient wireless silicon technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong background in embedded software development using C and assembly languages.
- Familiarity with ARM CPUs and RTOS.
- Experience in performing low-level drivers and hardware bring-up on FPGA and SoC platforms.
- Experience writing scripts in languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
- Knowledge of industry standards for wireless communications such as Bluetooth, WLAN, or UWB.
Responsibilities
- Craft and implement embedded software for System on a Chip (SoC) bring-up and testing.
- Work closely with the Software Engineering team to ensure firmware quality.
- Perform hardware bring-up and validation on FPGA and SoC silicon hardware platforms.
- Implement diagnostics, manufacturing tests, and protocol compliance test software.
- Optimize power implementation and debugging in firmware.
