JobsLocation Estimation Scientist, Sensing & Connectivity
Job description
This role involves building systems and algorithms that enhance location intelligence for billions of users. The team focuses on creating location-aware experiences by integrating software engineering, machine learning, signal processing, and data infrastructure. The work has a significant impact on various applications, from navigation to emergency response. Candidates will engage in developing intelligent systems and tackling real-world sensor problems.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in signal processing theory and its practical application to real-world sensor systems.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning, including model development, training, evaluation, and production deployment.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in production environments.
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field, or a Bachelor's degree with demonstrated experience shipping production systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing signal processing or sensor fusion algorithms in production environments.
- Demonstrated experience applying ML to sensor data challenges such as classification, regression, anomaly detection, or signal modeling.
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines handling crowdsourced, sensor, or telemetry data.
- Proficient in Python, Java, or equivalent languages suitable for ML, algorithm, and infrastructure development.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex systems and algorithmic ideas clearly to any audience.
- Curious and energized by problems that do not have obvious solutions yet.
Responsibilities
- Build systems and algorithms that power location intelligence.
- Craft next-generation location-aware experiences.
- Apply machine learning to real-world sensor problems.
- Design and implement signal processing or sensor fusion algorithms.
- Develop and maintain large-scale data pipelines.
- Communicate complex systems and ideas clearly to various audiences.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage.
