Job description

Apple's System Firmware and Diagnostics team is seeking an embedded firmware engineer to design, develop, and debug firmware for manufacturing and testing processes of Apple products. This individual contributor role offers the chance to work with experts in integrating core technologies into system firmware. The team values innovation, collaboration, and autonomy. Candidates will be responsible for architecting and implementing firmware for complex embedded devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming
  • Background in embedded firmware development in multi-threaded systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both peer and management audiences
  • Proficiency in interpreting and navigating schematics and layouts
  • Working knowledge of standard hardware protocols such as USB, UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe, MIPI, and PCM
  • Hands-on experience with debugging tools like gdb, lldb, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Well-versed in board bring-up and new product development

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop firmware for manufacturing systems used in embedded devices
  • Debug and troubleshoot firmware issues during the manufacturing and testing processes
  • Collaborate with team members to integrate core technologies into system firmware
  • Participate in rapid iteration and innovation within the firmware development process
