Job description

The SWE Data Science team at Apple is seeking an ambitious data scientist to analyze and produce insights from vast amounts of diagnostic and usage data. This role involves collaborating with various teams across Apple to enhance user experience and drive product decisions. The ideal candidate will work with large datasets and apply quantitative methods to conduct analyses and develop visualizations. The team focuses on leveraging the latest Big Data technologies and GenAI to tackle complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python or R.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms like Tableau or Looker.
  • 3+ years of data science or related experience, preferably in a consumer tech company.
  • Strong fundamentals in data engineering, product analytics, statistics, and machine learning.
  • Experience with distributed computing frameworks like Spark, Hadoop, or Flink.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and intellectually curious.
  • Experience with LLM-driven workflows or leveraging GenAI in Data Science.

Responsibilities

  • Use data to drive product decisions and improvements.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and define new metrics.
  • Create compelling data visualizations and develop analytical frameworks.
  • Own the analytical process end-to-end, from designing data processing pipelines to conducting deep dive analyses.
  • Communicate results effectively to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Explore new opportunities to innovate with GenAI and LLMs.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
