Job description

The Live Stream Broadcast Systems Engineer will be part of the ASE Live Stream Engineering team, focusing on enhancing live streaming experiences on Apple platforms and third-party devices. This role involves designing and implementing features and processes to ensure operational excellence in live streaming events. The engineer will act as a domain expert in live content acquisition, encoding, and delivery, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with various teams and vendors. The position requires a strong understanding of live production technologies and the ability to work cross-functionally to deliver high-quality streaming solutions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in live broadcast systems engineering
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams on video and media systems design
  • Deep understanding of live production technologies and large-scale infrastructure buildout
  • Experience with video monitoring tools and live streaming encoding technologies
  • Familiarity with data interchange formats such as XML and JSON
  • Some scripting experience in Python or Bash

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of live streaming features and tools.
  • Drive investigations into technical issues related to live content acquisition and delivery.
  • Support event-operations teams on live-streaming services.
  • Consult on the setup and maintenance of live encoding workflows.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot live video delivery issues with urgency.
  • Create, maintain, and execute playbooks, RCAs, and integration specifications.
