Job description

The role involves working within Apple's Platform Architecture group to enhance the performance of Apple silicon and products through GPU workload analysis. You will collaborate with engineers to identify performance bottlenecks and propose improvements in hardware and software architecture. The position requires a deep understanding of GPU performance optimization and the ability to analyze and benchmark various workloads. Your contributions will help shape the future of Apple's GPU technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent job-related experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 20+ years of work experience in GPU software performance optimization
  • Knowledge of computer architecture fundamentals
  • Background in software engineering, performance analysis tools, methods, and the performance optimization process
  • Experience and proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience and proficiency with popular high-level graphics APIs
  • Experience in software development for GPUs
  • Experience with AI, graphics, or other GPU performance benchmarks and workloads
  • Experience with GPU performance tools
  • Knowledge of operating system internals and compiler technologies

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing and new workloads to identify performance bottlenecks in hardware and software architecture.
  • Work with colleagues to address performance limitations and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Analyze GPU workloads performance and bottlenecks across various devices.
  • Implement and suggest improvements to remove identified bottlenecks.
  • Build targeted microbenchmarks to understand strengths and weaknesses of various GPUs and usage patterns.
  • Guide the development of forward-looking GPU workloads to represent industry trends.
  • Help improve Apple products by identifying areas of improvement at the GPU architecture and implementation level.
