Job description

The GPU Top Level Physical Design engineer will be part of the Silicon Technologies group, focusing on designing and manufacturing high-performance, power-efficient GPUs. This role combines strategic engineering with hands-on technical work, requiring collaboration with various teams to ensure effective physical design integration. The engineer will develop methodologies and guidelines to drive innovation in GPU design, while also managing the execution and progress of projects. This position is crucial for enabling Apple products to perform seamlessly and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with ASIC integration including floorplanning, clock and power distribution, and I/O planning.
  • Familiarity with floorplanning tools and P&R flows, specifically Cadence or Synopsys.
  • Experience with hierarchical design approaches and physical convergence.
  • Proven track record in solving complex physical design problems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement complete chip design from netlist to tapeout.
  • Collaborate with the front-end team to understand RTL and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle.
  • Develop PD guidelines and checklists to enable best-in-class GPU design.
  • Supervise progress and drive execution of physical design tasks.
  • Communicate and drive the needs of physical design with cross-functional teams.
