Job description
The Machine Learning Tools Engineer role is part of the Intelligence System Experience team at Apple, focusing on developing infrastructure and tools for generative modeling technologies. This position combines software engineering skills with machine learning knowledge to enhance developer experience across the organization. The engineer will work closely with researchers and ML engineers to create efficient solutions for model development and deployment. The role emphasizes collaboration, user empathy, and the drive to streamline ML development processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in software development with strong Python proficiency.
- Familiarity with machine learning fundamentals and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Experience with Linux systems, containers like Docker, and version control systems like Git.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in an ML platform, infrastructure, or productivity tools team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core ML infrastructure components including training pipelines and deployment tooling.
- Collaborate with ML practitioners to identify pain points and create productized solutions.
- Build and maintain Python-based SDKs, CLIs, and APIs for ML engineers.
- Ensure tools are robust, performant, and user-friendly with strong observability and documentation.
- Partner with infrastructure, MLOps, and platform teams for end-to-end system integration.
