Job description

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Apple, you will be part of the Cloud network Infrastructure team, responsible for maintaining high availability, scale, and resilience of cloud network services. This role involves engaging in the entire service lifecycle, from product release to deployment and operation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive service integrations and ensure service quality. The position requires a passion for excellence and a commitment to delivering innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience in crafting and operationalizing large scale distributed, fault-tolerant, multi-tenant services.
  • Experience with operating systems and network fundamentals.
  • Experience in API design and interface technologies such as JSON, ProtoBuf, REST, RPC, and XML.
  • Strong systems programming skills including multi-threading, concurrency, caching, and batching.
  • In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes, system virtualization, build systems, and infrastructure as code.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts, designs, and decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Support activities such as system design engineering, developing software tools and platforms, managing/planning capacity, and conducting launch reviews to ensure readiness.
  • Maintain service quality via monitoring and improving availability, performance, and health.
  • Implement proactive designs and processes to mitigate risk and reduce incident detection and resolution times.
  • Deliver sustainable incident response practices by learning from experiences through blameless postmortems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive service integrations and resolve dependencies.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
