Job description

The Reliability team is seeking an engineer to enhance the durability and reliability of Apple's iPad accessories and input devices. This role involves collaborating with various engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to mass production. The engineer will develop and implement reliability tests, analyze results, and advise on improvements to meet customer expectations. A strong technical background and innovative approach are essential for success in this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a hardware-focused field such as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience performing product characterization including mechanical stress tests, shock/drop/vibration testing, and environmental testing.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in iWork and Microsoft Office, including Keynote, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Statistical experience such as Weibull, JMP, or familiarity with accelerated test models.
  • Familiarity with Failure Analysis techniques such as Optical Microscopy, X-ray/CT, and Scanning Electron Microscopy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement creative reliability tests on new hardware programs.
  • Quantify reliability risk and support failure analysis resulting from tests.
  • Advise the executive team on the best path forward based on test results.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify design risks and develop performance evaluation tests.
  • Prepare comprehensive risk assessments to quantify field exposure.
  • Drive failure analysis and lead the team through complex problem-solving.
