Job description

The Systems Frameworks team within Apple's Vision Products Group is looking for a passionate software engineer to help implement foundational components for next-generation algorithms. This role involves collaboration with algorithm and low-level system framework teams to develop systems that are both performant and memory-efficient. The engineer will contribute to the architecture and implementation of key foundational system frameworks, while also investigating existing frameworks and building prototypes. A successful candidate will possess a strong curiosity and the ability to debug complex problems in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or similar and/or equivalent experience/skills
  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Knowledge of operating systems fundamentals
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills
  • Understanding of basic computer vision and machine learning concepts
  • Familiarity with Gen AI coding tools
  • MS degree in Computer Science or similar program is preferred
  • Proficiency with at least one other programming language, e.g. Swift
  • Experience developing and/or integrating high performance computer vision or machine learning algorithms on mobile or hardware constrained platforms
  • Experience with performance optimizations and multithreading/parallel processing
  • Ability to quickly learn and contribute to new technical domains and code-bases
  • Self-motivated and great teammate
  • Obsession with quality and details

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with algorithm and low-level system framework teams to develop systems.
  • Contribute to the architecture and implementation of key pieces of foundational system frameworks.
  • Investigate and understand existing frameworks and their interactions within the system.
  • Build prototypes to validate concepts.
  • Create proposals and gain buy-in from cross-functional partners and leaders.
  • Drive high-quality and performant implementation of the shipping product.
