The Metal Frameworks team is responsible for the Metal APIs that interface with Apple's Silicon GPU across all platforms. This team works closely with various internal teams to enhance the Metal developer experience and leverage GPU capabilities. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker who can design and implement flexible APIs while ensuring robust validation and testing. They will also seek to integrate innovative ideas to improve the Metal API.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Practical experience in modern GPU programming using Metal, DirectX, and/or Vulkan.
- Knowledge of Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, and CPU/GPU programming.
- Proven experience shipping software written in C, C++ and/or Objective-C programming languages.
- Recent experience with modern rendering techniques like ray tracing.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and accelerating them on the GPU.
- Experience in developing OS, systems, frameworks and/or game middleware software.
- Familiarity with Apple framework and API design patterns.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement clear, flexible APIs to expose upcoming GPU features.
- Deliver validation and testing plans to ensure robustness and quality of implementations.
- Collaborate with GPU driver, compiler, ecosystem, tooling, and platform OS teams.
- Explore opportunities to integrate innovative ideas from inside and outside of Apple.
