Job description
Apple is seeking a dedicated Physical Design Engineer to join their innovative team. This role involves working on high-performance PHY designs and collaborating with various teams including architecture, CAD, timing, and logic design. The engineer will play a crucial role in the physical design process, contributing from RTL to the final GDSII delivery. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience.
- Deep design experience in high PHY and/or SOC designs.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and practices in Physical Design.
- Experience in developing and implementing Power-grid and Clock specifications.
- Proficiency in HDL languages like Verilog for collaboration with logic design teams.
- Expertise in scripting languages such as Perl/Tcl.
Responsibilities
- Generate block/chip level static timing constraints.
- Build full chip floor-plan including pin placement, partitions, and power grid.
- Develop and validate high performance low power clock network guidelines.
- Perform block level place and route to meet timing, area, and power constraints.
- Generate and implement ECOs to address timing, noise, and EM IR violations.
- Run Physical Design verification flow at chip/block level and guide other designers in fixing LVS/DRC violations.
- Participate in establishing CAD and physical design methodologies for correct by construction designs.
- Assist in flow development for chip integration.
