Job description
The RF Systems Engineering team at Apple is seeking a passionate and self-motivated individual to enhance the overall system performance of multi-radio coexistence across various wireless technologies. This role involves assessing platform-level performance and addressing multi-radio coexistence issues through hands-on analysis and collaboration with cross-functional partners. The successful candidate will work on validation and characterization test plans to meet performance targets while also engaging in design reviews and hardware modifications. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative products that impact millions of customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Master's degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience on at least one radio technology such as Cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, NFC, or UWB.
- Knowledge of RF component characteristics and experience using lab equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
- Knowledge of wireless architectures including front-end, antenna sharing, and link budget line-up.
- Experience working with chipset teams to define RF/wireless system-level requirements.
- Proven understanding of RF hardware and methodologies for grounding, shielding, isolation, and electromagnetic interference mitigation.
- Experience performing hands-on disassembly and system-level debugging.
- Experience debugging and optimizing conducted or radiated radio systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
Responsibilities
- Perform HW failure analysis at the RF/wireless system level to understand low margin or failing behaviors.
- Propose design and process changes for multi-radio coexistence issues while considering design constraints.
- Review designs and sign-off on releases of PCB layouts, flex layouts, and system-level groundings.
- Execute validation and characterization test plans to meet multi-radio coexistence performance targets.
- Track validation status, analyze results, and communicate insights from data.
- Evaluate multi-functional change requests and update characterization plans as needed.
- Work with RF Test Engineers to bring up devices under test and establish test procedures.
- Perform simple experiments using hardware mock-ups and system prototypes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners for circuit-level and system-level simulations.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
