Job description

The Data Lead role on the Siri team focuses on developing powerful and compact LLMs to enhance user experiences with on-device AI. This position requires a deeply technical manager who will oversee the Data team, ensuring high-quality data delivery for machine learning models. The role emphasizes collaboration with researchers and engineers to transition ideas from prototypes to production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning and data management, along with excellent leadership skills.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on industry experience with a proven track record of shipping ML-powered products or features, ideally involving LLMs.
  • Extensive experience with the ML development loop focusing on data and annotations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience creating data for multi-modal foundation models that integrate text, vision, and/or audio.
  • Experience developing AI agents capable of planning and tool use tasks using generative AI techniques.
  • Experience developing ML systems for natural language understanding, visual understanding, or digital assistants.
  • Understanding of the latest generative AI development techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of highly talented and experienced engineers.
  • Understand and draft requirements for data-related tasks.
  • Develop annotation tools and workflows to enhance data quality.
  • Manage the delivery and quality of data for machine learning models.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, software engineers, and product teams.
  • Produce scalable, efficient, and accurate data pipelines using the latest AI techniques.
  • Ensure rapid iteration and impactful results from the Data team.
