Job description

The Access Engineering & Wallet Services team at Apple is seeking a seasoned software engineer to help redefine digital access. This role involves sophisticated problem-solving and collaboration in a cross-functional environment. The engineer will have significant ownership in shaping architecture and influencing direction across multiple teams. Ideal candidates will have a strong technical background and a passion for building reliable systems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of backend software engineering experience in languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Go.
  • Proven track record to deliver results in large, matrixed organizations.
  • Familiarity with leveraging AI to accelerate development.
  • Proven success building scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems and APIs.
  • Strong foundation in concurrency, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and production service ownership.
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.
  • Experience developing or integrating AI/ML-driven systems or decision pipelines.
  • Experience with iOS development or Apple platform integration.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build systems that enable seamless and secure access.
  • Navigate ambiguity and align diverse stakeholders to drive transparency.
  • Lead design discussions and challenge ideas constructively.
  • Influence without direct authority in a matrixed environment.
  • Shape architecture and influence direction across multiple teams.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
