Job description

The Product Design Engineer role at Apple involves direct responsibility for the mechanical design of parts and assemblies within Apple Vision products. This position requires collaboration with various teams, including Industrial Design and Manufacturing, throughout the product design cycle. The engineer will engage in concept development, prototyping, and testing, ensuring the reliability and assembly of components. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 5-10+ years of hands-on consumer electronics product design experience
  • Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills and experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, with NX preferred
  • Experience in tolerance analyses and GD&T techniques
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field is preferred
  • Experience designing wearable consumer electronics for fit, comfort, and ergonomics

Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design of parts, assemblies, and modules within Apple Vision products
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary collaboration with teams such as Project Management and Human Factors
  • Conduct analysis and ensure the reliability of mechanical components
  • Work with external manufacturing vendors to facilitate design for manufacturing and assembly
  • Lead teams through the product development cycle from concept to production
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations as needed
