Job description
The Hardware Architect role in Apple Information Security focuses on establishing the vision for future generations of security hardware. The team is dedicated to protecting Apple's data and ensuring it remains secure during transit and storage. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work under pressure and manage dynamic requirements while collaborating with multi-functional partners. The role involves translating security features into specifications and overseeing the hardware design and development process.
Requirements
- BS in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 8 years relevant industry work experience.
- Ability to comprehend and develop hardware specifications, component selections, block diagrams, and schematics.
- Experience leading architecture reviews and approving system specifications.
- Understanding of security architecture and threat models.
- Familiarity with DFT, DFM, and DFR principles.
- Knowledge of hardware/software co-design and interface standards.
- Strong written and presentation skills, able to communicate effectively with engineers and senior leaders.
Responsibilities
- Own and establish the vision for future generations of security hardware.
- Translate security features into high-level HW/SW specifications and derive HW requirements to design a product.
- Manage the program seeking to realize the vision - hardware design, development, manufacturing, and deployment.
- Map the design concept to available components, developing a bill of materials for manufacturers.
- Identify suitable components based on requirements.
- Validate end-to-end functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Integrate feedback on current hardware into future designs.
- Generate performance projections for future systems.
- Research market benchmarks, including performance, cost, and scope of application.
- Demonstrate excellence at multitasking, organizing, and prioritizing complex projects to meet deadlines.
